Pure cashmere yarns

These folders include all our 100% cashmere yarns, grouped by yarn count and type. remember our cashmere yarns are spun from the best Mongolian cashmere fibres and dyed by the top mills in Scotland and Italy...

4ply weight

We have now moved many of our yarns from this site to our beta development site at www.colourmart2.com (you have to register again for that site, sorry)..

These yarns should all be around 140Tex, between say 2/13NM and 2/16NM. Usually a 2 ply but we sometimes sell 1/7NM singles under this weight definition. 2/14NM, the most common, will give 1,150 yards from a 150g cone (3,500 yards/lb). You should get 28-32 stitches on a 4" (10cm) square swatch and use US 0-1, 2-2.75mm, or old UK 14-12 needles for stocking stitch.
Note that our definition of 4ply is quite a bit finer than some peoples - please check these numbers :-)

This section also has cashmere/sparkle yarns of several thicknesses, deatils on the individual listings

DK weight yarns

All the yarns we classify as DK weight should be about 290 Tex, equivalent to 1/3.5 NM (eg 4/14 NM). This means they give around 1,750 yards per lb, with one of our standard 150g cones giving around 570 yards. Users say they give 20 - 24 stitches for a 4" (10cm) square swatch, and they will knit with US 5-6, 3.75-4mm, or old UK 9-8 needles for stocking stitch... the folders below divide these yarns into supplier/construction types...
