Options de préparation des fils
Les fils que nous vendons sont des fils initialement destinés à l'industrie textile et sont de ce fait enduits (un procédé qui facilite le travail industriel). Nous les détaillons à la vente bobinés sur cônes, le plus fréquemment par 150g. Si cette présentation ne vous convient pas, nous pouvons préparer vos fils de différentes façons moyennant un supplément que vous pouvez acheter ci-dessous.
WINDING : nous pouvons BOBINER plusieurs fils sur un même cône. Cette option est GRATUITE, il vous suffit de nous le préciser au moment du paiement de la commande.
BALL WINDING : nous pouvons METTRE EN PELOTE votre fil. Nous ferons des pelotes de 50g qui peuvent se dévider par l'intérieur. Vous aurez donc 3 pelotes si vous achetez un cône 150g avec cette option. Attention : cette option n'est pas disponible pour les fils dentelle extra fins (cobweb), ni pour aucun fil dentelle pure soie.
SKEIN WINDING : nous pouvons LAVER votre fil. Il sera alors présenté en ECHEVEAUX d'environ 100 m (cette longueur peut varier de façon à diviser le cône plus aisément). Attention : cette option n'est disponible que pour les fils d'une certaine grosseur, à partir de très fin (4ply).
TWISTING : nous pouvons RETORDRE de 2 à 6 fils ensemble. Le retors est véritablement un art et nous ne pouvons garantir un résultat parfait, mais nous nous efforcerons de vous faire un fil avec une torsion bien équilibrée.
- twisting des fils monobrins (par exemple 1/14NM) : ils possèdent certaine tension (ce qui a comme conséquence un fil qui s'entortille sur lui-même), et pour obtenir un fil équilibré il est fortement conseillé de les faire retordre. C'est pour cela que cette option vous est proposée gratuitement pour tous les fils monobrin.
- twisting des fils déjà retordus (par exemple 2/28NM) : vous pouvez nous demander de les retordre, mais sachez que le fil obtenu après un retord simple aura une forte tension résiduelle. Commandez en connaissance de cause et uniquement si cette tension résiduelle ne gênera pas votre travail, ou si vous avez l'intention de faire subir au fil un traitement qui relâchera un peu cette tension (comme par exemple le teindre). Par contre, pour ce type de fil vous pouvez demander un RETORD DOUBLE afin d'obtenir un fil équilibré. Par exemple 2x2 brins d'un fil dentelle (4 brins au total : 2 brins tordus ensemble dans un sens, puis 2 brins du fil résultant retordus ensemble dans l'autre sens) donnera un fil moyen équilibré.
TWISTING IN A SPARKLE : pour apporter du brillant à votre fil customisé, nous pouvons RETORDRE de 2 à 6 fils ensemble, en ajoutant an plus un fil LUREX. Coloris à choisir parmi ceux présentés en photo.
Remarque : retordre consiste à enrouler les brins les uns autour des autres de manière à former un nouveau fil "normal" plus épais ; à ne pas confondre avec le simple bobinage de plusieurs fils sur le même cône qui est une option gratuite.

Winding a 150g cone to skeins and then washing those skeins ... this option is not available for yarns thinner than 4ply weight. The skeins will be 18inches long and will typically be 75gms in weight, but this can be varied to suit, and we may vary it to split a cone more easily.

Twisting together multiple plies of any yarn (of the same colour or different colours, indeed of different fibres too if you wish). Note that we attempt to get a balanced yarn but twisting is a "craft" process and we can not guarantee a perfect result.
Twisting should always work with singles yarns (eg 1/13NM yarn) because a balanced final result is possible with singles yarn input. TWISTING OF SINGLES YARNS IS FREE.
We can twist up multiple ends of already twisted (eg 2/28NM) yarns but the final result will be twisty EXCEPT if you want lots of plies, say 4 plies of lace weight to make a dk... then we can double twist the plies (for example 2 plies twisted one way then two lots of the result twisted together the other way, called a 2x2 twist) when we can still aim for a balanced result.
If you want a few (2 or 3 plies) twisted then either you can accept a twisty product because you are doing something yourself that will relax it (eg hand dyeing) OR you are asking us to skein wind it and NOT wash it (which is free) for you to soak it OR you need to pay us the additional extra to skein wind it and wash it - the soaking should relax the twistiness. If this is not clear please ask!
To be clear, twisting refers to actually twisting the ends around each other to create something like a thicker "normal" yarn. Simply winding several ends onto the same cone is free.
